Job Type: Self Employed / Ad Hoc Subcontractor

About PlumbLink

PlumbLink is a growing plumbing, heating and home improvements company based in High Wycombe.

We are looking to build relationships with experienced, reliable self employed Plumbing & Heating Engineers to support our growing workload across High Wycombe and the surrounding areas.

This is an ad hoc subcontracting opportunity rather than a salaried position. Work will be offered as suitable jobs become available, allowing you to take on additional work alongside your existing customers and commitments.

We are looking to develop long term working relationships with professional local engineers who can represent PlumbLink to a high standard.

The Role

As a PlumbLink subcontractor, you will attend domestic properties to diagnose faults, carry out repairs, complete installations and undertake general plumbing and heating work.

Jobs will be offered based on your experience, qualifications, location and availability.

Typical work may include:

• General domestic plumbing repairs
• Leak detection and repairs
• Tap, toilet and sanitaryware repairs
• Bathroom plumbing and installations
• Pipework repairs and alterations
• Hot and cold water systems
• Radiator installation and replacement
• Central heating fault finding and repairs
• Heating pumps, valves and controls
• Boiler servicing and repairs where appropriately qualified
• Heating system maintenance
• Power flushing
• Emergency plumbing repairs and callouts
• General plumbing and heating installations
• Identifying and reporting additional works required

Work may include planned appointments, maintenance, installations, fault finding and reactive callouts.

Engineers who specialise primarily in plumbing are also encouraged to apply. Gas related work will only be allocated to engineers with the appropriate qualifications and Gas Safe registration.

Customer Service

When carrying out work on behalf of PlumbLink, you will be representing our business directly to the customer.

You should be confident communicating with customers, explaining faults clearly and providing professional recommendations where additional work may be required.

Accurate job notes and photographic records will be required where appropriate.

All work must be completed professionally, safely and to a high standard.

What We’re Looking For

We are interested in experienced engineers who are comfortable working independently and managing domestic jobs from diagnosis through to completion.

Ideally, you will have:

• Strong domestic plumbing and/or heating experience
• Good fault finding and diagnostic skills
• Relevant plumbing qualifications or proven industry experience
• Gas Safe registration and relevant qualifications if carrying out gas work
• Full UK driving licence
• Own suitable van or work vehicle
• Own professional tools and equipment
• Appropriate insurance for subcontract work
• Smartphone with internet access
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Professional appearance and attitude
• Excellent timekeeping and reliability
• Ability to manage appointments independently
• High standard of workmanship
• Ability to identify and report additional work where required

Gas Safe registration is not essential for plumbing only work. Engineers will only be allocated work they are suitably experienced and qualified to undertake.

Subcontractor Arrangement

This is a self employed, ad hoc subcontracting opportunity and does not guarantee a fixed number of hours or jobs.

Work will be offered as and when suitable jobs become available.

You will have the flexibility to accept work based on your availability, subject to the requirements and agreed timescale of each job.

The scope of work, subcontractor rate and any relevant arrangements will be agreed before undertaking each job.

This opportunity may particularly suit established self employed plumbers and heating engineers looking to supplement their existing workload with additional local work.

Working Area

Work will primarily be within High Wycombe and the surrounding areas, generally within approximately a 10 to 15 mile radius.

Typical areas include High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Marlow, Amersham, Hazlemere, Holmer Green, Bourne End, Wooburn Green, Princes Risborough and surrounding locations.

What We Offer

• Regular opportunities for additional local work
• Competitive subcontractor rates
• Rates and scope agreed before undertaking work
• Flexible ad hoc arrangement
• Ability to work alongside your existing commitments
• Predominantly local jobs within a 10 to 15 mile radius
• Job scheduling and office support
• Varied domestic plumbing and heating work
• Opportunity for ongoing work
• Potential to develop a long term relationship with PlumbLink

Who This Would Suit

This opportunity would suit an established self employed plumber or heating engineer who already has their own vehicle, tools and equipment and is looking for additional work without committing to a permanent employed position.

We are particularly interested in engineers who can confidently attend jobs independently, diagnose problems, complete work properly and provide customers with the professional service expected from PlumbLink.

Apply

If you are an experienced self employed Plumbing & Heating Engineer interested in receiving additional work from PlumbLink, please apply with details of your:

• Plumbing and heating experience
• Relevant qualifications
• Gas Safe status where applicable
• Areas of expertise
• Areas you are able to cover
• Current availability
